The Mount Laurel branch of NFL Alumni will be partnering with Deborah Heart and Lung in Brown Mills. According to NFLA statistics, retired football players over the age of 50 have a 13.5 percent rate of coronary heart disease and a 46 percent rate of high blood pressure. The partnership will provide cardiac, vascular and pulmonary care to NFLA members.

The Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge in Medford was able to raise over $8,000 in a week. It comes as a result of a social media campaign to feed its 400-plus animals. The campaign was started after the refuge lost about $50,000 from sponsors, leading to a shortage in their food supply.

On July 1, the two community colleges of Rowan College at Gloucester County and Cumberland County College merged to become one. This new regional, dual-campus college will be known as Rowan College of South Jersey. The two campuses combined offer over 120 varied degree and certificate programs; nine of these are completely online. It offers enhanced learning experiences for students, employers and residents.

WalletHub has ranked New Jersey as No. 2 in the country on its list for 2019’s States with the Best & Worst School Systems. The study was based on funding, safety, performance, class size and instructor credentials. All 50 states plus the District of Columbia served as comparisons for researchers. New Jersey also ranked second in lowest dropout rates.

Police Blotter

A woman is being sought by police for giving a counterfeit $100 bill to a cab driver and receiving change in Burlington Township.

A Philadelphia man was arrested in Evesham Township after a police officer discovered five large bags of cocaine in his vehicle. The man was charged with third-degree possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.

A Blackwood woman surrendered to Washington Township police after social media pictures exposed her stealing laundry at an apartment complex. Items stolen included children’s clothing, bedding, towels and U.S. postal worker uniforms.
