WARM WEATHER BRINGS PLENTY OF OPPORTUNITY FOR ADVENTURE AS A FAMILY, but oftentimes finding the perfect summer escape can be difficult and thus cause undue stress. We spoke to Kelly Lyons, executive director of Garden State Discovery Museum in Cherry Hill and Paws Discovery Farm  in Mount Laurel, to find out the exciting ways that the two locations are engaging families this summer—with both educational and recreational activities—while creating memories that will last a lifetime.

1. Charge Up Their Imagination
Garden State Discovery Museum and its many themed play areas provide a wonderful opportunity to get the children out from in front of the TV, off their electronic  devices and out of the house. The Hands-on  experiences  provide great ways to spend quality time with your kids, and being in a space where they can let their imagination take flight helps keep their brains active in the summer months when they are away from the classroom.

2. Enjoy a Show
Garden  State  Discovery  Museum  also exposes children to live theater with their series of original shows, written and composed  by an  in-house team, and per- formed three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Because this is often a child’s first expe rience with live theater, it serves as great way for parents to test the waters before taking them to a bigger stage show elsewhere. And if they can’t sit through the whole performance,  the shows are free with admission, so families can continue to explore the museum.

3. Make Art
The museum also houses a great art studio that is the perfect place for the kids to tap into their creative side. Every day a new theme is presented and as the children learn more about the topic, they go on to create crafts inspired by the subject matter. And parents need not worry about making a mess at home; let us handle the cleanup as we encourage the kids to use paint, glitter, glue and other sup plies to help fully showcase their artistic abilities without limitations.

4. Take A Walk In Nature
With multiple trails and more than 200 animals to see, Paws Discovery Farm offers an intimate experience with nature. As children make their way around the farm, they are guaranteed to come face to face with a number of the animals, from peacocks and chickens to chinchillas and exotic turtles, all while learning about their unique characteristics.

5. Go To A Weekend Festival
Every weekend at Paws Discovery Farm there’s a big family-friendly event taking place, whether it’s a bubble festival or a teddy bear picnic. That means in addition to getting the chance to interact with the animals, families can enjoy a slew of activities and plenty of live entertainment as they spend the day taking in all the farm has to offer.  In addition, on some evenings the farm hosts bonfires where guests make s’mores, ride ponies and more. ?
