Ringing in 2017

by Erica Bauwens-Young

I’m the type of person who always makes a New Year’s Resolution. I’ll start thinking it up around Thanksgiving, and plan the ways to really embrace it in the new year to get myself really motivated and excited.

For me, the new year is an exciting time to kick-start things again, and find new ways to stay inspired during cold, dreary winter days. Two years ago, my husband and I decided to commit to a healthier, more active lifestyle at the start of the year, and we ended up losing 45 pounds each and running two 5Ks. And while we both still have work to do, and the fun of planning a wedding led us to stray a bit too much, I like to consider myself proof that New Year’s Resolutions can be a great catalyst for change.

My 2017 resolutions are laid out in the following pages for our special Health & Wellness edition: re-commit to a healthier lifestyle and focus more seriously on my financial future. After speaking with so many experts in the fields of health and personal wellness, I’m feeling more motivated than ever. How about you join me?
