Shawnee and Lenape High School Girls’ Softball (pictured)
The Shawnee and Lenape High School softball teams joined together in the first-annual “Strike Out Breast Cancer” softball game. The girls participated in fighting for a cure at their individual schools by selling t-shirts, holding a lemonade stand, hosting a pink bake sale and raising money through donations from Shawnee Student Council Denim Day. They raised $3,827.63 for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Moorestown Friends Science Olympiad Team
Moorestown Friends’ Elementary Science Olympiad team took first place at the New Jersey Science Olympiad Elementary School Division tournament, for students in grades four through six. Moorestown placed first in three of 14 events in the competition.

Camden County Technical School Warriors
The Camden County Technical School Warriors excelled at the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America State Competition. The girls came home with five gold medals, five silver medals and one scholarship.

Haddonfield Memorial High School Golf
The Haddonfield Memorial High School golf team won the Group 1 state championship against Woodstown, with 345 total strokes, four fewer than their opponent. The team finished their season with a record of 16-0.

Moorestown Youth Baseball Federations’ Rangers Team
Consisting of fifth- and sixth-grade boys, the Rangers ended the regular season in the Ripkin American league of the Moorestown Youth Baseball Federation with 11 wins and 2 losses, taking first place.

Thomas E. Harrington Middle School Eighth Grade Boys’ Baseball Team
Thomas E. Harrington Middle School in Mount Laurel sent its eighth-grade boys’ baseball team to the semifinals of this season’s playoffs, with a 9-0 victory over DeMasi Middle School of Evesham Township.

Barton Elementary School’s “Scooby Doo Crew”
“Team Scooby Doo Crew” of Barton Elementary in Cherry Hill was awarded first place in the structural and architectural design challenge at the Destination ImagiNation state competition in April. This month, they will be on their way to Knoxville, Tenn., to compete against teams from around the world.

Medford Memorial Middle School Girls’ Relay Team
The Medford Memorial Middle School Girls’ four-by-100 meter relay team won third place at the Penn Relays in the South Jersey Middle School division. This was the first year that Medford placed at the relays, with a recorded time of 54.6 seconds.

Marlton Boys’ Baseball Team Rockies
The Marlton Boys’ Baseball Team are having an outstanding spring season. The Rockies, a team of boys ages 11 and 12, are leading their division with 10 wins and one loss.

Christ the King Math Team
Haddonfield’s Christ the King Math Team competed in St. Joseph High School’s first-ever Middle School Math Competition, which consisted of seventh- and eighth-grade students. Christ the King took first in the group competition, competing against four other private school teams from the area.

Washington Township Marching Band
The Minutemen Marching Band of Washington Township High School has been invited to perform and compete at the college football Bowl Championship Series Game Band Competition and Halftime Show in New Orleans, La., to take place in January 2012. This is their first time being a part of a national championship game.
