The Top Five Benefits of Getting a Spray Tan
At Shadow Luxury Spray Tan Lounge, providing a healthy way to achieve a sun-kissed summer tan is just one way Alex Webb helps her clients feel good about the skin they’re in.

by Amy Kodrich

Over the past couple of years, spray tanning has become one of the most popular alternatives to getting naturally tanned skin. The sun’s rays, UV exposure and tanning beds can leave a lasting negative impact on your skin, and in serious cases, even lead to skin cancer.

Alex Webb, professional spray tan artist and owner of Shadow Luxury Spray Tan Lounge, knows firsthand about the damage tanning can do to your body. She not only provides her clients with a lavish airbrush experience, but also promotes skin health using exclusive UV-free treatments and organic products to make sure her client or clients look and feel their best without inviting long-term consequences.

Webb shared with Suburban Family a few reasons why opting for a spray tan is the way to glow this summer.

Healthier alternative
Over the years, excessive sun exposure and UV tanning beds can damage your skin and lead to premature aging, and that longtime exposure puts an individual at serious risk for skin cancer.

At Shadow Luxury Spray Tan Lounge, there are no tanning beds, and the airbrushing process is done in a private space. Webb has her own spray-tan-friendly skincare line that is hyaluronic acid-based, which especially helps her clients who have dark sunspots from UV exposure and tanning over the years finally enjoy the benefits of reduced hyperpigmentation.

You won’t look “orange”
Clients’ biggest fears when it comes to spray-tanning are color-matching for a natural look. During consultations, Webb makes sure to ask her clients what they naturally pull from the sun and whether their natural undertones are more warm, cool or neutral.

“I have a bunch of different colors that are specific for each skin tone and can mix depending on what the person is trying to achieve. ‘Brassy’ is never in my dictionary when it comes to a spray tan,” Webb explains.

Easy preparation and lasting results
It is important for clients to prep their skin at least 12 to 48 hours before their spray tan application—this also includes nails and lashes. Webb recommends using a sulfate paraben-free soap when showering, which helps achieve an even complexion. Once the tan is applied, moisturizing and drinking water are key for a long-lasting tan.

Clients who follow Webb’s post-spray directions can see their spray tan last as long as seven days.

Fast and effective method
From beginning to end, Shadow Luxury Spray Tan Lounge offers a comfortable and trustworthy service. They offer a private room, where clients can put their belongings and get undressed.  Every session is 30 minutes, which includes consultation and application, and is personalized for each client. The overall process lasts about 10-15 minutes.

Feel good in your skin
Webb understands the importance of feeling comfortable in your own skin. To help achieve that for everyone who walks through the doors at Shadow Luxury Spray Tan Lounge, she provides a welcoming environment where clients can feel at home and really open up to her about the specifics of their skincare needs.

“I just want everyone to never apologize for the skin that they're in and to truly love themselves inside and out,” she says. “I really, really want everyone to feel so comfortable when they enter my space.”
