Not many people are fortunate enough to turn a hobby into a successful business. As a young girl Hope Doms always found herself doing hair and naturally pursued it professionally. Doms has had a remarkable career both as a stylist for 15 years and on the corporate side of the salon industry. She has worked with L'Ore?al Matrix, InStyle magazine and has styled for Nicole Miller, the Flyers and Say Yes to the Dress.
When Doms had the opportunity to open her own salon and use all that experience she went for it. It is no wonder Wair Studio salon is a Best of Family winner for 2022. As the owner and master stylist of Wair offering superior services for hair, as well as brows and lashes Doms has applied her decades of knowledge to the salon.
“During my time traveling in the industry, I learned a lot about running a business and the guest experience. I wanted to create a small boutique salon with a friendly atmosphere. It’s not about cramming everybody into my book, it’s more about spending quality time and working with clients to discuss their goals for their look.
Wair offers several special services not easily found in other South Jersey salons. For example, the calligraphy cut performed with a small calligraph knife rather than scissors. It’s a great technique for thinner hair because it creates up to 300% more volume than a regular cut.
Doms is most proud of the salon’s organic approach to hair and skincare. “Once you learn about the chemicals in other brands and what you’re breathing in daily or getting on the skin I knew I wanted something safer and gentler for my clients and my team.”
