Njswim is a different kind of swim school experiencing tremendous growth throughout New Jersey, and this year is celebrating its 21-year anniversary of making learning to swim fun. With over 130 teachers and more than 5,000 lessons per week they care about water safety and the families they serve.

It’s no wonder families are flocking to Njswim—their experience and education for swim instruction is second to none. All locations are staffed with experienced, certified swim teachers who have completed coursework in lifeguard training, water safety, first aid, personal fitness training, psychology and early childhood education.

Their passion to teach safer swimming has fueled growth and expansion in New Jersey and their “learn to float” philosophy has made Njswim the largest privately owned, year-round swim school in the state of New Jersey. Joe Oehme, founder of Njswim, is a member of the NJ Swim Safety Alliance, National Drowning Prevention Alliance, Safer 3 Water Safety Foundation, and sits on the board of directors of Stop Drowning Now, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to water safety.

Their newest location in Turnersville is a state-of-the-art swim school that is family- and water-baby friendly with custom changing rooms, stroller parking and hair drying stations. The 30-by-70-foot indoor pool is heated, with top-of-the-line water and air filtration systems. Parents will love the comfortable viewing area and the multi-purpose studios for toddler through adult programs as well as pool parties.

Njswim offers year-round swim lessons for people of all ages and abilities. Their award-winning “Water Babies” curriculum is for three- to 15-month-old babies and is taught entirely with parental assistance. This program is designed to provide families with a safe and positive introduction to an aquatic environment with the goal of achieving a relaxed demeanor in the water for both the children and parents.  The next progression is for children of 16 to 30 months with a goal of weaning children into lessons with less parental assistance.

Safety swim lessons for preschoolers are the first level where children are independent of their parents with a teacher and are taught breath control, supported floating and how to enter and exit the pool safely. A free swim evaluation is offered to help teachers determine the best class level and options for each child.

Njswim also offers summer swim camp programs. “Our summer swim programs are absolutely the best method of teaching kids of all ages the fundamentals of water safety and how to feel comfortable in the water and really learn how to swim,” says Oehme.

Njswim is New Jersey’s leader in water safety instruction and has been working closely with NJ State lawmakers to pass a bill requiring New Jersey public schools to offer water safety curriculum to every student at the elementary school level. As leaders and water safety activists, the Njswim leadership team works everyday to teach children the importance of safety in the water. Njswim even goes so far as to offer free in-school presentations on water safety.
