All Eyes on Them
Meet the skilled providers at Friedberg Eye Associates

For more than 70 years, Friedberg Eye Associates has been caring for patients from across South Jersey and beyond, and recently expanded into a second location in Mullica Hill. The practice offers a wide range of ophthalmology and optometry services, including cataracts and cataract surgery, glaucoma treatment and surgery, LASIK eye surgery, dry eye disease and treatment, macular degeneration, pediatric eye care and cosmetic treatments, among many others. Its range of expertise for all ages has garnered Friedberg Eye Associates a Readers’ Choice honor in Suburban Family’s Best of Family 2021 for family eye care. Below are the doctors who contributed to this recognition.

Dr. Howard Friedberg
Dr. Friedberg graduated from Emory University in Atlanta, where he continued for his internship as well as three years of ophthalmology residency. He served as chief resident his final year. Following residency, he completed a year of fellowship in phacoemulsification and anterior segment surgery at Wills Eye Hospital.  

Dr. Friedberg’s areas of expertise include cataract surgery, including complicated, high-risk procedures, glaucoma treatment, and general ophthalmology. He has performed tens of thousands of procedures. He is affiliated with Gloucester County Surgical Center in Mullica Hill and well as Select Surgical Center in Washington Township. He is chief of ophthalmology at Inspira Health Center in Woodbury.  

He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and on the board of governors of the New Jersey Academy of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Andrea Friedberg
Dr. Friedberg earned her doctorate of medicine with high honors from Emory University School of Medicine and was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honors Society. Dr. Friedberg then completed a medical/surgical internship in the Emory University System obtaining a comprehensive knowledge and experience treating children and adults in private hospitals, trauma hospitals and VA hospitals. Dr. Friedberg completed her ophthalmology residency at the world-renowned University of Pennsylvania Scheie Eye Institute, including training at the prestigious Wills Eye Hospital.

Dr. Friedberg has extensive experience in dry eye treatments, eye and facial rejuvenation, eyelid surgery including small lesion removals, nutritional support, cataract diagnosis and surgery, glaucoma diagnosis and surgery including the iStent and many types of laser treatments.

Dr. Brett Weinstock
Dr. Weinstock is a Wills Eye Hospital-associated physician who provides comprehensive eye care including management of cataract, glaucoma and laser vision correction. He received his bachelor’s in science in biomedical engineering from Brown University. While in medical school at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, Dr. Weinstock graduated with honors, distinction in research, and was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Society. He went on to complete his residency at the prestigious Wills Eye Hospital.

Among Dr. Weinstock’s areas of expertise are management of complex cataracts, including use of advanced technology lenses, laser-assisted cataract surgery and correction of astigmatism using the ORA system. He also performs glaucoma procedures, functional eyelid surgery, femtosecond LASIK eye surgery and PRK laser vision correction.

Dr. Weinstock now is involved as a clinical instructor in the training of future residents at Wills Eye Hospital and medical students at Jefferson University.

Dr. Alice Williams
Dr. Williams is a board-certified ophthalmologist, cataract surgeon and fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist. She earned her medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine and completed both her residency in ophthalmology and fellowship in glaucoma at Wills Eye Hospital. Dr. Williams uses the most advanced technologies available to treat glaucoma, with a special interest in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery. She is also an experienced cataract surgeon. Her areas of expertise include dropless cataract surgery and advanced technology intraocular lenses to help patients reduce their need for eyeglasses after surgery.

A dedicated educator, Dr. Williams is an attending surgeon at Wills Eye Hospital where she teaches young eye surgeons and medical students. She has published multiple peer-reviewed research articles in medical textbooks and journals and was an editor for the glaucoma section of the Wills Eye Manual.

Dr. Louise Colletti
Dr. Colletti earned her doctor of optometry degree from Salus University Pennsylvania College. She is a contact lens expert and sees patients for general optometry examinations.

Like the other doctors at Friedberg Eye Associates, Dr. Colletti is committed to her patients. She listens to their concerns so that she can understand what they need. She works hard to make the medical experience as comfortable as possible for patients. Whether patients are visiting the office for a routine examination or an acute problem, Dr. Colletti provides expert care and individualized attention to every patient.

Dr. Karen Levy
Dr. Levy is a native of Beacon, New York, and earned her bachelor’s in biology with honors from Widener University. She received her doctor of optometry from SUNY College of Optometry, graduating as valedictorian of her class. Dr. Levy completed rotations at University Eye Center and the Philadelphia Veterans Hospital, with a focus in ocular disease, specialty contact lenses and low vision services. During Dr. Levy’s education, she received numerous academic and clinical awards, including the Pacesetter Award for Excellence in Primary Care, the Dr. Mark S. Feder Scholarship for Excellence in Primary Care, the VSP Practice Excellence Award, and the BSK Award for Academic Excellence. She was honored to receive the SUNY Chancellors Award for Student Excellence, the highest honor bestowed upon a student from a SUNY campus.
