Charny Karpousis Altieri & Donoian, P.A.
Experience and compassion when it matters most

by Staff

Charny Karpousis Altieri & Donoian, P.A. is a boutique family law firm located in Marlton with highly regarded attorneys who provide assertive and efficient representation to clients in family law matters whether the case is straightforward, involves complex or unique legal issues or is a high asset/high income matter. This includes divorce, custody, alimony, child support, college contribution and equitable distribution. The firm’s attorneys are also skilled in cases involving domestic violence, prenuptial agreements, property settlement agreements and adoptions. While the attorneys are seasoned litigators, the firm also offers Alternate Dispute Resolution alternatives, such as mediation and arbitration. No matter is too big or too small for this team of family law attorneys.

Expertise in the unique nature of family law
Just as no two people are the same, no two families are the same. It follows that every legal case is unique—each requiring skilled analysis and in-depth understanding of the law combined with recognizing clients’ personal needs. As such, Charny Karpousis Altieri & Donoian, P.A. offers more than traditional litigation options, which may be better suited for some families. Specifically, mediation and arbitration are two alternative dispute resolution services that allow parties to settle out-of-court, saving time and money while alleviating the mental, emotional and financial strain that litigation puts on families.

The firm’s attorneys have extensive experience representing business owners, entrepreneurs and professionals, in divorce cases that involve the valuation of businesses, real estate, medical, legal and other professional practices. The attorneys are equipped with the financial acumen required to represent clients with small closely held businesses as well as those involved in publicly traded or more complex ventures.

Advocating for clients on a personal level
Led by Karen Rose Karpousis, Michelle F. Altieri and Nicole Donoian-Pody, the firm’s team of attorneys has over 120 years of combined experience, including several attorneys who chose to transition from some of the region’s most prominent larger law firms to be part of a group focused solely on matters of divorce and family law. Together they have established a reputation of compassionate yet aggressive representation and are highly respected throughout the area.

Karen Rose Karpousis is a prominent divorce attorney who has a well-earned reputation of providing caring yet assertive representation to her clients. Practicing exclusively family law since 1992, she effectively and efficiently represents her diverse clientele and is a certified mediator, which allows her to provide clients with an alternative to traditional litigation. Karen’s reputation as a formidable advocate is reflected by the numerous professional accolades she has received and her frequent volunteerism for numerous community organizations including South Jersey Legal Services.

Michelle F. Altieri has been an attorney for over 20 years concentrating in divorce and family law and representing clients with diverse issues as well as business owners and corporate executives with complex financial matters. More than an advocate for her clients, she is also an active participant of the professional community as a board member, guest speaker and contributing writer. Career is only one facet of Michelle’s life. It is matched with a commitment to volunteerism and helping those less fortunate, handling numerous pro bono matters and community advocacy outside her profession.

Nicole Donoian-Pody has 20 years of experience in all aspects of family and matrimonial law with a particular focus representing clients in complex divorce matters. She too is a family law mediator and serves as a Matrimonial Early Settlement Panelist. A popular speaker and published legal author, Nicole has frequently moderated and presented at legal seminars and business forums on varied topics. Volunteer work is of paramount importance to Nicole both professionally and personally to assist members of her community who are in need.

Giving back to pay it forward
Managing Partners Karpousis, Altieri and Donoian-Pody take great pride in the firm’s history and continuing its legacy commitment to the community. The firm’s attorneys participate in the region’s professional associations, provide pro bono legal services to indigent clients and mentor other New Jersey family lawyers. They are active in the Thomas S. Forkin Family Law American Inns of Court and leaders in the state and county bar associations. In addition, the attorneys have taught continuing legal education seminars, authored legal articles and have appeared on local and national television commenting on a variety of divorce and family law issues.

Advocates both as a group and individually, the entire staff also support local and statewide charitable organizations. From mentoring young women at the Alice Paul Institute, making breakfast for families at the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey to coordinating book and holiday drives for local groups, including BookSmiles and Collecting for a Cause, these are just some of the ways the firm continues to make a difference in the South Jersey Community and beyond.

Not even COVID-19 stood in the way of giving back. Together, the firm coordinated a number of “thank you” efforts for first responders and others on the front line, such as providing lunch for the Evesham Township Police Department and helping fund the “Feed Our Front Lines” for the custodial staff at Virtua Hospital.
