For 30 years, husband and wife Michael and Irina Uhimov have been growing their family-operated business here in South Jersey. They started at the Chews Landing Market with just two cases of gold jewelry, moving up to the Echelon Mall for 16 years. The business has now been located at Eagle Plaza for 11 years.
Michael’s grandfather was a watchmaker and jeweler. Growing up in Ukraine, he would observe and help, learning how these artisans crafted each piece—something that often goes unappreciated in today’s mass-produced economy. He carried those skills here to America and opened his own business in 1988.
Michael’s Diamond & Gold Club offers a range of products and services, including jewelry and watch repair, appraisals, sizing and jewelry clinique, diamond engagement rings and wedding bands and multiple watch brands including Movado, Seiko, Citizen and Rolex (not affiliated with Rolex). They also offer expert stone setting and polishing, silver and costume jewelry repairs, watch and clock repairs and engraving.
Every item of jewelry in the cases at Michael’s Diamond & Gold Club is hand-picked by Michael and Irina. They always have their eyes out for the most unique and special pieces, yet they are also masters in customization. Simon has been with the Uhimovs for 21 years as their in-house craftsman, creating one-of-a-kind pieces and bringing customers’ visions to life.
Michael says some of his favorite custom pieces have been engagement rings. “It’s special because they are going to be with each other forever and I am proud to be part of this bond. We invest our passion to create everlasting pieces that represent love,” he says.
This passion is evident from the moment you walk into Michael’s Diamond & Gold Club. Michael and Irina are the first people to greet customers and the ones who see them through the shopping experience. “We give our personal attention to all customers. We’re not here to get them in and out fast,” says Irina. “We are dedicated and passionate about what we do. Keeping our customers happy is more important than price.”
