AS PEOPLE CONTINUE TO PUT AN EVERGROWING  FOCUS ON THEIR HEALTH AND WELLNESS, one local fitness center is making sure they go the extra mile for their members. Echelon Health and Fitness in Voorhees not only has all  the equipment and instructional classes to help whip you into shape, they are also extending their reach into the community by partnering with several hundred local businesses to offer a rewards program that is unprecedented in South Jersey. We spoke with Jeff Quinn, general manager, about some of the things that make Echelon so unique  and found out more about the center’s mission to help the community, their PERX Partners  and their team to become healthier, fitter and stronger.

1. Family Owned and Operated
Owners David and Susie Chung wanted to take their familiarity with business to the fitness industry and develop a family business—their son and daughter are now learning the business from the ground up. What’s more is David  and Susie’s desire to make all their members feel like family as well. Whether they are personally greeting members by name at the front  do or or making sure their needs are consistently being met, the personal touches the Chungs have added to Echelon do not go unnoticed.

2. The Kids Club
As a parent of young children, trying  to carve out free time for hitting the gym can be tricky with a full schedule of activities and commitments. However, at Echelon, the Kids Club is a place where parents can drop off their children (ages 1 ½ to 11 years old) for up to two hours while they work out. Kids can participate in their own fitness activities or play with toys  and the Nintendo Wii all while being supervised by their parents via a monitor located in the gym. And on Sundays, members can bring their entire family  to enjoy swim time from 2 to 6  p.m. at the spacious indoor pool.

3. Member Perx
Echelon’s  exclusive  MemberPERX Program provides added value  to any active membership. Thanks  to  a partnership with nearly 250 local merchants, members are awarded discounts at several hundred area businesses, from fine dining and casual eateries to hair salons, auto dealers, retail stores and much more. When taking advantage, the discounts received are often enough to cover the cost of membership. Members  have saved over $100,000 using the PERX program.

4. The Thrive Fitness Program
Another exclusive offering at Echelon is the Thrive Fitness Program. C reated by Mike Boyle, a nationally recognized  strength and conditioning trainer from Massachusetts who has worked with several professional and Olympic athletes, the program centers around personal training in small groups created to help you reach individual goals. Whereas boot camp or CrossFit workouts can be demanding physically,  Thrive is a less intense experience but still allow s people of varying abilities to train like a pro.

5. A Wide Variety of  Classes
With three different studios offering  as many as 75 classes per week, there’s always something going on at Echelon, from Les  Mills’ choreographed workouts to hot yoga, yoga, spinning, barre, zumba and several other options. And finding time in your busy schedule is made easy thanks to classes starting as early as 5:30 a.m. and running as late as 7:30 p.m., seven days a week.
