Lenape Regional District Cancer Quad (pictured)

Pooling their resources together, the four Lenape Regional high school softball teams—Lenape, Shawnee, Seneca and Cherokee—each raised money for four different cancer foundations by selling T-shirts. The combined total money raised was a whopping $5,690, benefiting Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the Pediatric Cancer Foundation, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and the Jane Hower Memorial Educational Fund.
Haddonfield Youth Lacrosse Club Fifth and Sixth Grade Girls Team
Haddonfield
The Haddonfield Youth Lacrosse Club’s fifth- and sixth-grade girls team finished their inaugural season undefeated this spring, and went on to win the SJ LAX Championship for their age group. Coached by Lynn Conor and Marisa Edmund, the girls beat Kingsway’s team 13-7 in the semifinals and Seneca 12-8 in the championship finals.
Washington Township Freshman Boys Basketball

Mastering a sport is difficult enough, but as the WTHS basketball team learned, it would be even tougher with a disability. Athletes from the high school played a game of basketball in wheelchairs against a team from Magee Rehabilitation Center in Philadelphia. Washington Township won in a close game, 66-61, and learned a valuable lesson from the Magee team.
Mount Laurel Storm Girls 10U Softball

The competition was intense at the Delran Spring Fling Tournament, but after some great plays, the Mount Laurel Storm 10U girls softball team led their group to victory. The Storm went 5-1 and outscored their opponents 48-6 with three shutouts. Their only loss was a tightly fought 3-2 contest against a very good Robbinsville Rampage team. The 14U team also finished first while the 12U team finished in second place.
Marlton U13 Varsity Boys Lacrosse Team
Marlton
The Marlton U13 Varsity Boys Lacrosse team went undefeated in the Moorestown Lacrosse Festival on May 18. After winning four games in the tournament, the Chiefs advanced to the championship game and came out with another win, 5-3, over Moorestown SEPYLA, or South Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Lacrosse Association.
South Jersey Black Storm Boys Lacrosse

The South Jersey Black Storm, a boys lacrosse organization, sent five teams to the Thunderbolt Tournament in West Windsor this season. In a series of heated matches, the third/fourth grade team, fifth-grade team and sixth-grade team all took first place in their divisions, while the eighth-grade squad placed second and the seventh-graders took third.
Moorestown Girls u15 Lacrosse Team
Moorestown
The Moorestown girls lacrosse team has a reputation for excellence, and they proved it once again by winning not one, but two championships this season. They took home the gold in the Lightning Tournament and the Ice Bowl II Tournament, and grabbed the Honor the Game Award for their sportsmanship.
Washington Township High School Baseball Team
Washington Township
The Washington Township High School baseball team won the prestigious Joe Hartmann Diamond Classic for the first time since 1993. The Minutemen defeated Camden Catholic Fighting Irish in the tournament’s championship game, 14-1. Teammates Tom Hildrebrand and Ryan Long each led the team with three hits in the final game.
Cherry Hill West Latin Teams
Cherry Hill
The best students from the Latin I and II classes at Cherry Hill West High School participated at the regional level of Princeton University’s Certamen competition, a Latin-themed quiz competition. Both teams finished in second place in their respective divisions after fierce competition from 36 other schools, pitting them against each other with questions on ancient Rome’s language, history, mythology and more.
Shawnee High School Girls Lacrosse Team

It was a strong season for the Shawnee Renegades, ending with a NSJIAA Group IV championship title to call their own. The team defeated Ridgewood High School 12-9 in the final at the start of June, with junior Caroline Shinske scoring four goals. The girls’ win earned them a coveted spot at the Tournament of Champions, where they advanced to the final before losing to Moorestown, 11-5.
Eastern High School Track and Field

The Eastern boys and girls teams both had success at the South Jersey Group IV championships, as the Vikings received first-place showings from Jeffrey Tucker in the high jump, Melanie Edwards in the 400 meters and the girls 4x100 relay. Several Vikings went on to compete at the state championships, with Tucker adding a state title in the high jump and Mikhail Micheaux capturing a state crown in the long jump.
Mount Laurel Lacrosse Seventh/Eighth-Grade Girls Red Team
Mount Laurel
The Mount Laurel Lacrosse seventh/eighth-grade girls Red team ended their season on a positive note at the SJ LAX Year End Tournament. The tournament pits South Jersey teams against each other through a series of games, and the Red team came out on top, claiming the championship title at the overall competition for their age division.
