Team Comcast’s PeeWee Major and Minor Ice Hockey Teams (pictured)

The 2000 PeeWee Major team went undefeated in the recent Frozen Cup Tournament, run by Selects Hockey. They won all four round-robin games and came out on top in the final championship game, 4-2, against the Rockester Americans. The team averaged 38 shots on goal per game. Meanwhile, the 2001 PeeWee Minor Team defeated the New England Falcons 4-2 to win their respective division of the tournament.
Rosa International Middle School Mathletes
Cherry Hill
The Mathletes from Rosa International Middle School placed first in the local South Jersey MATHCOUNTS competition, a five-hour event held at Rowan University earlier this month. Rosa’s Kevin Chen also placed third individually. They’ll now head to the state competition in New Brunswick on March 9, where they'll compete against numerous teams from throughout the state for the right to represent New Jersey in the national competition in Washington, D.C.
Moorestown Girls Field Hockey
Moorestown
The fifth- and sixth-graders of Moorestown Field Hockey won the 2012 Pinelands Dodgers League after a close matchup with Medford. In the end, the girls clinched the title, 4-3.
Haddonfield Girls Tennis

Posting a 32-0 record and capturing their fifth straight Group 2 state championship, the Haddonfield team was unstoppable on the court this season. The Bulldawgs were the No. 1 team in the area for the fifth straight season.
Lenape High School Marching Band

Not only did the team move up a level from a Group 2A to a Group 2 Open, which categorized them as a more experienced and higher performance band, but the team won the New Jersey State Band Title for the fourth year in a row. During the national competition, Lenape beat out 10 other Group 2 Open bands.
Washington Township 6th Grade Boys Travel Basketball B Team
Washington Township
The young stars of the Washington Township Sixth Grade Boys Travel Basketball B Team captured a lot of attention in their division at the Joseph Kessler Memorial Basketball Association's Holiday Tournament in Mount Laurel held in December. The team went 3-0 in tournament play.

The cheerleaders won their eighth national title since 1997, coming in first place at the America’s Masters Cheer Competition in Baltimore, Md., recently.
Shawnee Boys Swim Team

The 200-yard medley relay team for Shawnee High School set a new school record with a time of 1:38.12 at a January meet with Cherokee High School. Student Alex Mesica swam the breaststroke, Bryan Mattingly swam freestyle, James Elmendorf did the backstroke, and Jon Burkett did the butterfly stroke. The old school record was 1:39.42 set in 2008. Later in the month, the swim team scored their ninth win in a row.

Moorestown
The Moorestown Youth Wrestling Team held a charity 10-team dual tournament in memory of former youth wrestling team member Sean Fischel earlier this month. Fischel, 7, died in January from an extremely rare immune system disorder called hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH). All of the proceeds, amounting to at least $20,000, benefited the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), where Sean was treated for four months.
Eastern Mock Trial Team

The Eastern Mock Trial Team won the Camden County Championship and advanced through two rounds of regional playoffs. They are now one of six teams remaining in the state playoffs. They are led by student attorneys: Vivek Shah, Sam Mohr, Chloe Unger and Zach German. Outstanding witness performances were contributed by: David Galpern, Kyle Kowal, Matt Shapiro, Evan White, Erin Farmer and Max Levin. Their next match is for the South Jersey Championship on Feb. 27 in New Brunswick.
Marlton Recreation Council Cheerleaders

The girls of the Marlton Recreation Council youth cheerleading squad received the unique experience of being able to perform on a much grander stage than usual. On Jan. 30, they were given the opportunity to show off their skills in a dazzling performance for the crowd at the Philadelphia 76ers basketball game versus the Washington Wizards.
Holy Cross Girls Bowling Team

The Holy Cross girls bowling team finished in first place in the South Jersey Group 1 girls bowling tournament held at Laurel Lanes in Maple Shade earlier this month—earning the team its first-ever sectional crown. With a total pinfall score of 2,349, Holy Cross beat out runner-up Gloucester by 103 points. The team also won the BCLS Freedom Division earlier in the season.
