The Mount Laurel United Gladiators U13 boys travel soccer team advanced to the quarterfinals of the National Championship Series competition recently. In a quarterfinal match against the No. 7 ranked team in the United States, the Gladiators trailed 3-1 at halftime. They lost after penalty kicks and a double overtime, but this fall season also produced a 13-game unbeaten streak (9-0-4), a Columbus Day Tournament Championship and a No. 14 ranking among all U13 New Jersey boys team.
Cherokee High School Tennis

The girls of the Cherokee High School tennis team were given the opportunity to face a rival they lost to only a week before when they faced Cherry Hill East in the South Jersey Group 4 Championship match, and they made up for their earlier loss in a big way. Their 3-2 win gave them the title of Group 4 champions, which was just the third time in school history, and the first time with coach David Haney, who’s been head coach for 16 years.

Haddonfield
After a stellar season, Haddonfield girls’ tennis left the court with a 32-0 record and their third Tournament of Champions title, with their last title being earned in 2009. They also won the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 2 tournament earlier in the season, defeating Barnegat with a 5-0 sweep.
U12 Medford Blue Devils
Medford
The U12 Blue Devils of Medford, a team that plays in the JAGS Premier Division, finished the fall season with an impressive 9-0-1 record, which led them all the way to the quarterfinals of the state cup. They lost eventually to Hamilton following two overtimes and penalty kicks. But they quickly bounced back, blanking Point Pleasant and beating Lehigh Valley 2-1 in post-state cup games.

The New Jersey Youth Soccer State Cup Tournament in Wall Township ended with a win for the Marlton Red Lightning youth soccer team. After an almost scoreless game against Westfield Premier, Marlton won in a double overtime due to penalty kicks.
Haddonfield United U-11 Soccer
Haddonfield
The Haddonfield United U-11 Soccer team won the George Pratt Cape May Columbus Day Tournament, which includes teams from New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Maryland. The Haddonfield travel team finished with a 3-1 record, with the only loss being a team they later played and beat in the championship game. The regular season record for the team, coached by Karl Benedict, Terry Brophy, John Fell and Lynn Skelly, was 5-0-1.
The teams of Washington Township Youth Football
Washington Township
The youth football players of all Washington Township’s teams, ages 5 through 14, wore pink socks, shoe laces and wristbands through the month of October. Proceeds raised from the sale of these items were donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, amounting to more than $1,000. The teams also held “pink” games in which the field was decorated in pink and all players and cheerleaders presented their mothers with pink carnations before the game.

The Moorestown girls tennis team added to an impressive streak, winning a 24th straight sectional crown at the South Jersey Group 3 tennis tournament. First doubles team Julia Gips and Kelsey Mercer went unbeaten as second doubles team Siena Cashan and Erica Schwartz won after dropping only two games.
Lenape High School Boys Cross Country

The runners of the boys cross country team captured the team title at the Burlington County Open in Willingboro, beating their second-place competition 57-74. Soon after that, they also claimed the American Division title for the second time in three years.
Rancocas Valley Girls Soccer
Mount Holly
The Rancocas Valley High School girls soccer team clinched their first division title in school history after defeating Burlington Township 1-0 and taking home the Burlington County Scholastic League Liberty Division Championship. Though they only went 6-10-2 last year, they set a school record this year, going 14-3-1 overall, one more than their previous best set 11 years ago.
Cherry Hill East Boys Soccer
Cherry Hill
They may have been considered the No. 14 seed, but the Cherry Hill East boys soccer team had several big victories this season, including against defending champion Cherokee. Then, they held off rival Moorestown in a 1-0 victory to take home the Coaches Cup Tournament title, which they hadn’t won since 1989.
Eastern Girls Soccer/Lenape Girls Soccer
Voorhees and Mount Laurel
The girls’ Coaches Cup Tournament final round was an all-out battle between Eastern and Lenape. The game went to two overtimes, and ended in a scoreless tie, making Eastern and Lenape co-champions of the Coaches Cup.
