This 10-year-old gymnast may have only began training at Champions United Gymnastics Academy a year ago, but she has already wowed the competition. Baker placed first all-around for her age group at the State Level 4 Championship gymnastics meet in Hamilton on Feb. 11, placing first in floor and bars.

These six middle school student athletes were chosen by teachers and administration to receive the Dan Rozmes Spirit Award. The students were recognized at a recent basketball game and rewarded for displaying the same “selfless, positive attitude in daily activities” that Rozmes, a former principal, did during his life and career with the district. Sixth-grader Jenni Ryan, of St. Charles Borromeo School, is at the top of the proverbial pyramid after placing 3rd at the Pop Warner National Championships in Florida. Ryan and her team, the Delran Pop Warner Junior Midget Cheerleading Squad, also placed first in Burlington County and the Eastern Region. She was recently recognized by her school as a Star Athlete.

Cherokee grad Laura Sweeney, now a starting forward for the Villanova women’s basketball team, was named to the Capital One Academic All-District 2 Women’s Basketball Team, after recently scoring her 1,000th career point.

Delaney, a two-year varsity lacrosse starter, has earned NJ All State, SJ Top 20 and 1st Team All Olympic Conference honors in soccer as well as being a member of the girls basketball Olympic Conference Championship team. She recently committed to play lacrosse for Div. 1 school Sacred Heart University in Connecticut.

The South Jersey High School Ice Hockey League (SJHSIHL) named Burkhardt, a freshman honor student, Player of the Year for JV. Burkhardt helped his team earn a 15-0 season, along with a SJHSIHL championship title over Lenape on March 2.
Will Manion
Haddonfield
This Haddonfield High School swimmer placed first in the 100-yard backstroke and 2nd in the 200-yard individual medley at the NJSIAA Meet of Champions on March 4. Manion will take his talents to William & Mary in Virginia upon graduating.

Moorestown
Moorestown High School’s Forline won the regional championship, wrestling in the 182-lb. bracket. He beat out competition from New Egypt High School and Haddon Heights, advancing to the quarterfinal round.

Cherry Hill
Henning, 15, was named Rookie of the Year in his class at the American Power Boat Association National Convention in Chicago. Henning is a hydroplane racer, racing his 750 pound, 14 foot hydroplane across water at speeds of up to 90 mph.

Cherry Hill East freshman O’Neill won the State Diving Championship on Feb. 29 during the Men's NJSIAA State Diving Championships at The College of New Jersey in Ewing. He successfully completed his 11th dive, a complicated inward 1 1/2 somersault, to edge past competition.

The Philadelphia Junior Flyers, of Voorhees, announced these three Junior Flyers will represent them by playing in the 2012 Atlantic Youth Hockey League Bantam Major All-Star Game at Quinnipiac University in April.

Medford
Styles, of the Will-Moor Gymnastics USAG Girls’ team, placed first on vault for Level 9 competition at the Tim Rand Invitational tournament in Florida on March 3. She was joined by teammate Jenna Williams, who placed first in beam and bars for Level 10 competition.
