Girls’ Indoor Track and Field coach Burdsall (pictured) was selected in Oct. by the New Jersey Scholastic Coaches Association as a 2010-11 State Coach of the Year. He now qualifies for further honors through the National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) Coaches Award program.

Shawnee marching band director Rotindo saw the Renegade Marching Band to win the 2011 Group 3 Open Yamaha Cup Championship at Met Life Stadium in Oct. Shawnee, one of 57 bands competing, won the Group 3 Open Class, the highest level of competition.

Coaches Dalton, Longshaw and Battin saw their Galaxy 13U boys’ soccer team capture the 2011 Mount Laurel Columbus Day Tournament on Oct. 10. The Galaxy beat out teams from New Jersey, Penn. and Del. to win the championship with a 3-0-1 record. The team also captured the Moorestown Labor Day tournament in Sept.

The Marlton Crush 11U girls’ travel soccer team, coached by Weaver, took first place in the Gold Division at the 2011 Deptford Soccer Fall Fest Tournament on Columbus Day weekend. The Crush went 3-0 and recorded two shutouts.

The U12 girls’ Marlton Lightning travel soccer team, coached by Kasinski, advanced to the New Jersey Youth Soccer State Cup championships, facing off against the NJSA Bulldogs.

Kevin Meder
Mount Laurel
Lenape’s girls’ soccer team, led by Meder, won its fifth straight Coaches Association title last month with a 4-1 win over the Bulldawgs.

Haddonfield
The Haddonfield girls’ Tennis team made history last month, winning both the singles and doubles state titles. This was the first time any school in New Jersey has won both these championships in the same year. The same week, Coach Holman was also inducted into the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Hall of Fame for his achievements as a scholastic tennis coach.

Haddonfield
Girls' soccer coach Gess celebrated his 250th career victory last month, as the Bulldogs clinched the Colonial Conference Liberty Division title in a victory against Haddon Heights.

John Stanz
Voorhees
Stanz saw the Eastern Marching Vikings to a first place performance at the Tournament of Bands State Championship in late Oct. The band was also awarded prizes for best color guard and best visual.

Ali Collins
Moorestown
Collins’ girls’ field hockey team won the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group 3 field hockey championship this month in a battle against top-seeded Wall Township. The 3-2 victory resulted in the program's first sectional title since 2007.

Mary Jewett
Cherry Hill
Cherry Hill East’s girls’ tennis team posted a 5-0 victory over Millville in the South Jersey, Group 4 championship match last month, earning their first sectional title since 2008 and advancing to the state semifinals. Jewett’s team finished with a 15-3 record this season.

Bill Kingston
Moorestown
The Quakers girls’ tennis team, coached by Kingston, was in control this season, winning their 23rd consecutive section title and advancing to the Group 3 State Team Tournament.
