Seven-year-old Matthew Leming made an unassisted double play for Haddonfield Little League’s team Gold, which plays in the Haddonfield “T-Shirts 7” division. Leming was playing second base and caught an infield fly ball, then ran to second base to double up the player on second who had left the base early.
Isabel Obregon, Marlton
Eighth-grade Marlton Middle School student Isabel Obregon, who swims for Jersey Wahoos, competed in the 2011 Nike National Age Group Showcase Classic Swim Meet in Florida. Obregon won High Point for 14-year-olds and set three meet records.
Ron Hoover, Haddon Township
Haddon Township senior Ron Hoover has been a four-year varsity wrestler, accumulating 131 career wins, a school record. He placed sixth in the 2011 NJSIAA State Wrestling Tournament in the 130-pound weight class. Hoover is also a four-year varsity pole-vaulter, holding a school record at 14 feet.
Gianna Vaiarelli, Delran
Second-grade Millbridge Elementary School student Gianna Vaiarelli won the New Jersey Level 4 gymnastics state championship. She is the state champion on bars, beam, floor exercises and all-around.
Kelsi Worrell, Westampton
Rancocas Valley Regional High School junior Kelsi Worrell is the 2010 and 2011 New Jersey state champion in the 100-meter butterfly, setting a new meet record with a time of 55.23 seconds. Swimming six days a week for the Storm Swim team, she is also a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honoree.
Jenna Hoffner, Medford
Medford Memorial School student Jenna Hoffner was invited this winter to play for the Medford Renegades eighth-grade travel basketball team, as a seventh-grade student. Currently, she is playing on the South Jersey Tarheels Amateur Athletic Union team and leads her team with 250 point so far this season.
Alyssa Kalitz, Washington Township
Washington Township junior Alyssa Kalitz, a varsity lacrosse player, has been honored as a 2011 High School UnderclassmanAll-American and will play for the Upper Atlantic region in the 2011 National Lacrosse Classic this summer.
Max Blank, Moorestown
Moorestown fifth-grade Gold lacrosse player Max Blank finished the first of three games played in one weekend with an 81 percent save percentage. Playing against an undefeated Interboro team, Blank had 13 saves.
L’Tea Smith, Mount Laurel
Harrington Middle School eighth-grade student L’Tea Smith, who runs for the Mount Laurel World Athlete Track Academy team, was honored as the fastest kid in the county. Smith finished first in the girls’40-meter dash, consisting of 13- to 17-year-olds, at the 2011 World Athlete Indoor Track meet. She ran the race in 5.76 seconds.
Alexandria DeSousa & Amanda Craig, Moorestown
Eastern Regional High School senior Alexandria DeSousa will be playing Division III field hockey at Drew University next year. Senior Amanda Craig has signed a letter of intent to row at Nova Southeastern University next year, a Division II school.
Holly Bischof, Cherry Hill
Bishop Eustace junior Holly Bischof competed in the New Balance Indoor Track Nationals in New York City, running the third-fastest indoor 5,000-meter time in New Jersey state history, placing eighth in the meet with a time of 17:12.
Brian Aji, Moorestown
William Allen Middle School eighth-grade student Brian Aji was honored at the Moorestown Quakes Ice Hockey Club’s awards banquet as MVP of the Moorestown Quakes Ice Hockey Middle School A team.
