Sarah Rhamy & Shannon Martin, Medford
At the New Jersey State Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Fall Leadership Conference, Shawnee High School senior Sarah Rhamy, (pictured, left), was awarded a gold medal in the “Passion for Fashion Design” competition, and senior Shannon Martin earned a gold medal in the “Tune into FCCLA” event.

Tyler Rodriguez, Haddonfield
Haddonfield Friends seventh-grade student Tyler Rodriguez, a member of Haddonfield Boy Scout Troop 64, organized and implemented a nature trail at the Friends school, earning the rank of Eagle Scout.

Emily Zhang, Mount Laurel
Lenape High School senior Emily Zhang scored 23 points over five competitions in the Burlington County Math League, making her the highest individual scorer for the 2010-2011 school year.

Kenneth Flood, Washington Township
Bells Elementary School fourth-grade student Kenneth Flood took first place in his division in a regional chess competition in Pitman, facing off against nationally ranked students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Flood won four matches, besting another fourth-grader in 30 minutes to win in the finals.

Adam Knight, Voorhees
After his junior year, Eastern High School senior Adam knight enrolled in the Army National Guard and attended boot camp, at Fort Benning, Ga. After he graduates, he will continue his Specialist Computer Training at Fort Gordon and then go on to active duty.

Nicholas Segal, Washington Township
Bells Elementary School fourth-grade student Nicholas Segal won the school’s spelling bee for grades three through five. Competing against the top 15 spellers in the school, Segal won a gift certificate to Barnes & Noble.

Taylor Coccia, Washington Township
Eighth-grade Chestnut Ridge Middle School honors student Taylor Coccia played the role of Anne Frank in Mainstage Center for the Arts’ production of The Diary of Anne Frank at the Dennis Flyer Theatre at Camden County College. Coccia is also the lead singer in the country group The Payton Taylor Band and recorded her first album in January.

James Acker, Moorestown
Moorestown High School junior James Acker won the 2011 Drexel University High School 10-Page Screenplay Contest. He was awarded a $5,000 scholarship to Drexel University, along with the chance to have his screenplay, A Less Than Decent Proposal, produced.

Jake Ober, Cherry Hill
Woodcrest Elementary School fifth-grade student Jake Ober won the 2011 fourth- and fifth-grade spelling bee, receiving a new dictionary and a certificate for his hard work.

Brenna Lafferty, Marlton
Fifth-grade Van Zant Elementary School student Brenna Lafferty was selected from all the students in her class to read her essay at the D.A.R.E. graduation, before the Evesham Board of Education, the police department, parents and siblings.

A.J. Kawczynski , Haddonfield
Haddonfield Middle School sixth-grade student A.J. Kawczynski came out on top as the USA Champion Gold Medalist at the 2010 American Math Challenge. Kawczynski was then selected to be an ambassador for World Math Day in March.

Miranda Stewart, Marlton
Miranda Stewart, a Cherokee High School senior, was the only student in the school awarded the title of National Merit Finalist. She is one of just 15,000 finalists in the nation, and is in the running to receive a National Merit Scholarship.
