Let’s goooo! It’s always “Game On” at HerSport, the sporting goods store that serves the equipment, apparel and footwear needs of female athletes and active women of all ages.
Complete with a turf area to try out equipment, HerSport is a one-stop shop for field hockey and lacrosse in particular and has become the place to go for customers not only in South Jersey but for the entire tri-state area. Over the years it has also built a strong following as the supplier of uniforms and spirit wear for many teams and youth programs in the region.
“From the start it’s been about customer service and quality products,” says Deb Gallagher, owner of HerSport. Gallagher believes in talking with parents and players about trying various products to see what works best. “We are an information center to help guide customers and provide them the opportunity to compare different brands in making their choice.”
Before the launch of HerSport, Gallagher started her career as a high school physical education teacher and coach and moved on to become the head coach for lacrosse and the assistant field hockey coach at Haverford College. “The mission was always to have a store that would cater to the continuous building and growth of women’s sports.” “I truly feel we are fulfilling a strong need with the niche of a female specialty store.”
After over 26 years in business HerSport shows no signs of slowing down. For Gallagher, the experience has been amazing and she has enjoyed seeing players grow through the store. As she looks to the future, retirement will eventually be on the horizon for Gallagher, and she hopes to turn over HerSport to someone who will continue the passion for owning and progressing this need of a women-specific sporting goods store.
