Strike Up Some Summer Fun
With the Kids Bowl Free program available all summer long, there is no shortage of excitement at Laurel Lanes Bowling & Entertainment Center.

by Carly Murray

When school is finally out and the weather heats up, it is difficult to avoid the temptation of staying inside to play video games all day. However, Laurel Lanes Bowling & Entertainment Center has an arcade replete with games and virtual reality with the option of staying active with billiards and bowling. Until Sept. 15, kids can register online for the Kids Bowl Free Program to enjoy two free games of bowling in the 60-lane entertainment venue every weekday from noon to 5 p.m. to further encourage the mental stimulation, exercise and socialization provided by the activity.

After all, promoting youth bowling is a fundamental practice of Laurel Lanes, as well as prioritizing safety and sanitation. The Laurel Lanes team just wrapped up prom and graduation events as a prime destination for parties and celebrations, especially with the abundance of space. Planning for these memorable end-of-year experiences can start right now.

“[For Project Graduation], they take over literally the whole bowling center overnight after graduation from 11 p.m. until 4 a.m. That is usually planned several months in advance, but it's something that they can look forward to,” says Kathy Clay, Director of Operations, “We are a great destination for after-prom activities for older kids, because it’s a late-night thing and we play different music, we have a DJ for them, karaoke and we can put slideshows of their whole high school careers on our projector screens.”

Laurel Lanes is also a headquarters for birthday parties, with packages customizable for each party’s playing preferences and age group: Frames & Games, Interactive Adventure and Sundae Spectacular or Ultimate VIP Birthday Party. Friday nights were recently added for summer birthday parties to give parents a more convenient option. Each party package includes a private party room, an hour of bowling, arcade credit, food, a bowling pin for the party guests to sign and a party host.

The Interactive Adventure package includes an additional interactive game wall in the party room and is a perfect choice for younger children. The Ultimate VIP Party doubles the Frames & Games package with two hours in the suite, six cherrywood bowling lanes in the private party room, a DJ booth, a PlayStation 5, a foosball table and customizable music, projections and bowling screens.

Although the Sundae Spectacular party package includes an ice cream sundae bar exclusive to the birthday child and guests, one can enjoy the signature handcrafted Lickety Splitz ice cream without an event to celebrate. In fact, the new summer menu is reason enough, with flavors like lemonade a la mode, blueberry crumb cake and bay breeze sorbet. The rotating ice cream menus are accompanied by a selection of regular flavors including both sweet and “sinful” alcohol-infused flavors.

For more than just dessert, Splitz Bar & Grill offers a menu packed with traditional sports bar favorites and seasonal cocktails. It is clear that the entertainment and dining available at Laurel Lanes isn’t just for kids, with enough fun to spare for adults as well: Bowling helps with team building, healthy competition, focus and fostering relationships. When paired with the goal of working toward a cause, Laurel Lanes is perfect for career-related events.

“We started doing these networking events for either after-work parties or a networking social event for groups. They’re there for happy hour, and they come in once a month. So if there are any adults who want to think about either their employment or any charitable groups that they belong to, they could set up a networking event with us in our Splitz Bar & Grill,” says Clay. “And then we give 10% of the proceeds from their first event held back to them for their organization or for their charity. It’s inside the bar, so we give them the happy hour specials and they just socialize and hang out and they have a nice time.”

So, put down the screens regardless of age and head to Laurel Lanes Bowling & Entertainment Center for engaging activities, delicious treats and cherished memories.
