Maria Tsakiris, Cherry Hill
Maria Tsakiris (pictured), 17, a senior at Cherry Hill East High School, an American of Greek extraction who has been the Greek National Junior Figure Skating Champion for the past two years, will now represent Greece in the 2014 Winter Olympics. Tsakiris has competed in four Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating, including in France in 2010, Croatia in 2009, and Italy and the Czech Republic in 2008.

Cara Cianci, Washington Township
By the beginning of October, Cara Cianci a First Team All-South Jersey gymnastics selection last season, had posted top scores on vault, floor exercise (9.55) while hitting 9.75 on bars and 9.0 on beam to lead Washington Township High School’s team to 112.025 points—the highest team score in the state this season.

Shaun Savvas, Mount Laurel
Shaun Savvas, 12, an eighth grader at the Hainesport School, was chosen as the Goalie of the Tournament at the Silver Sticks Philadelphia Regional Pee Wee Hockey Tournament in West Chester, Pa., in September Savvas, who had a .89 goals against average, helped lead his team to win the division championships by tending two shut-out games in five-game series.

Annika Nozaki, Cherry Hill
Annika Nozaki, 10, a fifth-grader at Woodcrest Elementary School, won all but one of her age group’s floor exercises in New Jersey Gymnastics Judges’ Pumpkin Cup meet in October. She also took first place in the parallel bars event at the Acorn Invitational.

Paige Propp, Cinnaminson
Paige Propp, 14, of Cinnaminson, had a winning sailing season that included the Ocean City Yacht Club’s 420 Fleet Championship, the Pleasantville Yacht Club MAYRA South Jersey 420 Champion title, the MAYRA Summer Series 420 Fleet Champion title, and the Ocean City Yacht Club LeForte Cup. She was awarded the Ocean City Yacht Club Sportsmanship Award for her overall season performance.

Monica Lee, Cherry Hill
Monica Lee, 14, an eighth-grader at Rosa International Middle School, won the Cherry Hill Cross Country Championships on Oct. 16. Lee also won the league championship on Oct. 26 and placed first in the Middle School Meet of Champions on Oct. 28 in the seventh-and-eighth-grade category.

Anthony Horten, Moorestown
Moorestown High School senior Anthony Horten, 17, ran a 15:57 in the 5,000-meter at the Burlington County Divisional Cross Country Championships in October, placing first overall.

Annie McCotter, Cherry Hill
Annie McCotter, 16, a swimmer for the Jersey Wahoos, qualified for the 2012 Olympic Trials at the 2010 Speedo Long Course Junior Nationals in Irvine, Calif., swimming the 200-meter fly long course with a time of 2:16.33. McCotter also swims for the Bishop Eustace team.

Andrew Lisa, Moorestown
Moorestown High School senior Andrew Lisa, quarterback for the Quakers football team, received the Tri-State Chevrolet Player of the Week Award last month, given out during Eagles coach Andy Reid’s show on 610AM WIP.

Stephanie Philpshen, Mount Laurel
Lenape High School junior Stephanie Philpshen was named to the Burlington County Open All-Star volleyball tournament team this season for her excellent contributions to the Indians’ season.

Alex Zaugra, Medford
Shawnee High School junior Alex Zaugra, goalie for the Renegades’ girls’ lacrosse team, was voted as having the “Performance of the Year” by readers of Lacrosse Magazine for her 21 saves in the team’s game against the Moorestown team when the Renegades upset the Quakers 7-6. Zaugra was the only high school player on the list which included players for teams in the women’s NCAA lacrosse finals.

Megan Lacy, Marlton
Cherokee High School’s Megan Lacy, 16, ran the Mill Creek Park course record at the Burlington County Open, while also winning the Burlington County Open Girl’s Championship with a 17:53 time. Her time was more than a minute better than 2009 Sectional Group 4 winner, Lenape’s Natalia Ocasio. This month, Lacy was chosen by as one of the two best high school girl runners in the state.
