Bringing Passion to Dental Care
Dr. Dorothy Drain fosters a comfortable and welcoming environment at Lakeside Dental Family & Cosmetic Dentistry

by Staff

Dr. Dorothy Drain has been practicing dental medicine for more than 25 years. She is the President/Owner of Lakeside Dental Family and  Cosmetic Dentistry in Sicklerville.

The office provides care for patients seeking implants, root canal therapy, routine preventative care, cosmetic bondings, periodontal therapy, cosmetic crowns, dental bridges, oral surgery and bone grafts. Dr. Drain and her highly trained staff also perform cosmetic procedures that enhance beautiful smiles of all ages. Teeth whitening and implant ceramic crowns allow patients to function and to have a perfect bright smile every time. Since 2022, Dr. Drain has focused on performing more implant surgeries.

In preparation for her career, Dr. Drain earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine in 1994. Subsequently, in 1995 she completed her general practice residency program at Virtua Health Systems in Camden. Since completing her residency program, Dr. Drain has served as a faculty member of Temple University School of Dentistry, She is also a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, National Dental Association, and life member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.

Dr. Drain is passionate about dentistry and provides the best quality patient care to all of her patients. Maintaining close ties with her community, Dr. Drain strongly supports youth organizations by raising scholarship funds for deserving senior high school students. Highly praised by her peers and patients, Dr. Drain is also a frequent donor to homeless shelters and breast cancer walks.

Dr. Drain also teaches as an adjunct professor one week each month at Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine in Florida. Getting to instruct the “phenomenal” students there, she says, is another way for her to share her passion.

“Dentistry has always been my love. It’s not a job for me. I get up every morning and I look forward to treating patients,” Dr. Drain says. “Getting them out of pain, making them feel comfortable and also helping them feel more confident in who they are.”

It’s no surprise that the can-do attitude Dr. Drain brings to the office every day spills over into so many facets of her life, from teaching aspiring dentists to supporting local youth.

“Our vision going forward is to grow the practice even more. To get more patients involved in taking care of their teeth, to be healthier and to not be afraid of going to the dentist,” Dr. Drain says.

With this type of growth in mind, Dr. Drain foresees a future where she is not the sole practitioner at Lakeside Dental. An associate spot could soon be filled by a familiar face: Dr. Drain’s daughter Brittany Preston, who is a second-year dental student at Tufts University School of Dental medicine and will join Lakeside Dental after her residency.

Of course, Dr. Drain herself won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.
