Aesthetically Pleasing
At Malik Medical Aesthetics, Dr. Pooja Malik uses her years of expertise and the latest cutting-edge procedures to have clients looking and feeling their best.

by Chelsea Valcourt

It’s important to feel confident in your own skin and it can be hard to get to that point on your own. As such, many people turn to aesthetic procedures as an avenue to their desired look. Aesthetic treatments come in a variety of different forms from fillers and facials to body sculpting and laser hair removals, and it is very important to choose the right specialist to ensure beautiful, safe and quick-healing results.

Suburban Family spoke with board-certified physician and owner of Malik Medical Aesthetics, Dr. Pooja Malik, about the benefits of aesthetic procedures, current trends in the field and the impact of advancing technology on patient outcomes.

Are aesthetic procedures for everyone?
Depending on what the concerns are we have treatments that can be customized for skin types one through six. We have something for everybody including facials, peels, microderms, Hydrafacial MD, micro needling and radio frequency micro needling. We care for everybody and can customize treatments based on how much healing time they’ll have and their skin type and color.

What are the top services being requested these days?
Most of the patients or clients coming in now are seeking procedures with minimal downtime and bruising. That being said, injectables like botox remain the most popular, especially for those preparing for the holidays. Our second most popular procedure, I would say, is fillers. The most requested area for fillers is the lips, and the demographics have shifted. It used to be people in their 40s getting fillers, but now we’re seeing more individuals in their late 20s to 30s and 40s.

What should a new beginner to aesthetics know?
For those new to aesthetics, it is important to begin with a consultation to discuss your goals and expectations. You should also ensure you are seeing an experienced qualified provider. It can be helpful to check social media for before-and-after results which can offer valuable insights.

What procedure would a young person need or want?
Aesthetics is more of a want than a need – a want which is often influenced by social media. Most of the younger patients are very savvy on social media, meaning a lot of education and exposure comes from there. That being said, some popular treatments seen on social media platforms are toxins, lip fillers and peels.

What procedure would an older person need or want?
Individuals in their 40s or 50s are great candidates for body sculpting. We offer a range of options including CoolSculpting for body contouring, Morpheus for facial sculpting and Exilis for skin tightening. A combination of these treatments can significantly contribute to achieving the patient’s desired results.

Are these services just for beauty or do you have medical cases as well?
Our practice is focused on aesthetics to enhance our patients’ appearance and wellbeing and primarily specialize in aesthetic treatments and enhancements.

How has technology changed? What does this mean for your patients?
We here at Malik Medical Aesthetics have upgraded our technology. Now, we are a state-of-the-art skin care institute providing the latest and most updated lasers, radio frequencies and all kinds of skin treatments. Patients at our practice will benefit from cutting-edge technology which result in awesome results with minimal downtime.
