Beauty In Demand
The popular treatments to consider as summer approaches.

by Liz Hunter

After a year of few social interactions or outings, some of us may be feeling a little nervous about going back out into the reopening world. Perhaps you’re carrying some extra pandemic weight or feeling like the stress has aged you—whatever it is, there are aesthetic professionals to help with treatments that will boost your confidence. Read on to see what they recommend.

Look Fabulous Now Lift
This is for anyone, at any age, looking for a healthier and more youthful look to the face, neck and jawline. The LFN lift creates a true rejuvenation because you still look like you, just happier and more energized. It takes less than two hours, no IV or general anesthesia needed. Some swelling and bruising is common but this diminishes quickly. Within a week or so, most patients will feel presentable and comfortable in most public situations. This satisfying, sophisticated procedure creates a naturally refreshed, reinvigorated look without looking too tight or too pulled or “operated on.”

Radiofrequency Skin Tightening
Sagging skin, wrinkles and fine lines are common issues that stem from genetics or photodamage caused by exposure to the sun. Over time, collagen and elastin break and cause your skin to lose its elasticity. During a radiofrequency (RF) skin tightening procedure, heat is used to encourage new collagen and elastin production. This renewed production helps eliminate wrinkles, fine lines and tighten the skin. This procedure also triggers fibroplasia, in which the body forms new fibrous tissue and stimulates the production of collagen, causing collagen fibers to become shorter and more tense. Skin elasticity increases and loose, sagging skin is tightened. RF treatments can be used on both the face and body, including jowls, neck, abdomen, arms, thighs, knees and buttocks, with no downtime and little to no pain.

Hairstyles/Color
Angled bobs are very popular right now.
People want shorter hair, about shoulder length with a continuous flow. All styles of bobs are hot including straight and layered piecey looks. For hair color, the balayage hair coloring technique is still very hot these days. This is a highlighting technique that doesn’t use foils. Instead, stylists hand-paint color directly onto hair which helps create a more natural, blended look. The maintenance is less than with traditional highlights. There is a longer grow-out period meaning less time in between touch-ups when compared to traditional highlights.

Non-surgical Jowl Reduction
A non-surgical option would begin with Kybella, which is an FDA-approved injectable procedure to eliminate fat cells around the jawline and under the chin resulting from factors such as age, genetics or weight. The Kybella procedure is a series of injectable treatments placed in specific areas along the jowl line and under the chin. There is no real downtime, however some swelling may occur seven to 10 days after the procedure. The injections are done in sets and may require more than one treatment. After the fat deposits have been removed we like to use a filler along the cheek area so the end result has produced an improved defined jowl and a refreshed youthful appearance. Results can usually be seen in about 10 weeks.

Permanent Makeup
There are several types of styles of permanent makeup that are popular today, but the focus remains on eyebrows. Microblading remains the buzz word, but in reality, we find our clients are looking for something softer, like a powder brow. Powder brows are an advanced technique that is done using a pendulum effect, mostly performed by machine but sometimes a hand tool. They appear more like the brow powders that women purchase to shade in their brows. Microblading is more defined hair strokes and masterfully performed. These hair strokes can have a powder effect in between them, to create a softer effect. Misty brows, also referred to as snow eyebrows, is the lightest of the styles and great for a woman who is concerned about her brows being too obvious or strong and wants to break in gradually to permanent makeup.

Regarding pain or discomfort, our topical anesthetics are very effective. We pre-numb our clients, and continue to swipe with the topical anesthetics throughout the entire procedure.

Body Contouring
This is the perfect time to get ready for summer. Treatments that are in demand include lipo 360 (back and belly), liposculpting of the arms and thighs as well as the abdomen. Liposuction provides real results with removal of fat. Fat that is obtained from liposuction can be grafted to the face, for a natural facelift, to the buttocks or hip dip area. Breast lift and augmentation is in demand to get ready for the beach. Also in demand are lifts of any area of the body including the face, neck, arms and thighs.
