As a child, summer never felt like it flew by. Days ran into the next without urgency and yes, sometimes my younger sister and I got bored—we didn’t have iPads then, after all. Yet, as an adult I lament how fast this season goes. Watching my 3-year-old splash in the baby pool, the barbecues with friends and even the awesome thunderstorms that pop up—I don’t want it to end. If only we knew how good we had it as kids.
Now we’re the parents and in September, that means getting the kids into a routine again. With school back in session next month, Suburban Family is setting its sights on content focused around education. First, we have our annual Public High School Report Card, showing class sizes, graduation rates, SAT scores and more. And if September didn’t sneak up on your kids fast enough, college just might. This month we explore how families can work together on funding higher education, whether it’s putting money away—the sooner the better—or searching for scholarships to help lessen the financial burden.
And since life is getting busier by the day, turn to The Dish, featuring takeout meals that will feed your family on the fly.
But I’m not packing up my flip-flops just yet. I’ll be enjoying the next few weeks, soaking up every minute of summer. I hope you do, too.
