Relax. Escape. Thrive.

by Erica Bauwens-Young
There’s really nothing like a spa day during a vacation or getaway to a beautiful exotic place. The feeling of a relaxing massage, the sounds of peace and quiet, even the scent from a luxury resort experience can be memories that get you through those cold and blustery days working overtime in the office as you count down the months until your next trip.

But now that indulgent spa experience is available right at home, thanks to Spavia, a year-old company in Moorestown operated by Aaron and Danielle Katzoff. The massage and aesthetic spa is one of a national chain that is currently the No. 1 fastest growing franchise in the United States, according to Entrepreneur Magazine.

Spavia brings those national resources into an intimate, luxury setting, creating the space and experience of a full-scale resort spa right in Moorestown. “The founders, Marty and Allison Langenderfer, wanted to create an escape, a real spa and resort experience that could be obtained at an affordable price without going away to a resort,” explains Aaron Katzoff. “Our motto is: ‘Spavia, what you need more often.’”

Spavia’s message was what drew the Katzoffs to the spa in the first place. “Spavia, as a franchise, really jumped out to us,” explains Danielle. “We flew out to tour their day spas in Denver and Boulder and I was blown away. It had the feel of a spa such as Red Door [by Elizabeth Arden] or the Borgata. I knew we had to bring this day spa concept back to the East Coast.

“[My husband and I] do spa treatments when we travel, but we never found that real experience at home. To go and just get a massage always felt rushed and a little uncomfortable. So, when we received that experience at Spavia we thought, ‘People need to have this.’ And it’s an affordable treat that people won’t feel guilty about indulging in.”

The Spavia resort experience begins right after you check into their lobby. Each guest begins with a welcome form, where you can customize every part of your relaxation. Guests can choose from 60-, 80- or 100-minute massages that include Swedish, deep tissue, hot stone and sports massage therapy, as well as maternity massage. Extremely popular are the couple’s massages that are available in a special tandem room.

“You can also choose from additional treatments including body wraps, body scrubs and top quality spray tans. Guests select details such as the scent of your massage lotion imported from the island of Fiji,” says Aaron. “From there we ask several questions that are unique to Spavia like, ‘How do you want your therapist to communicate with you?’ It’s something that our guests really appreciate. You also choose your music from a variety of soothing sounds customizing your experience from start to finish.”

After completing your welcome form, a guest advisor will personally escort you to the furnished changing areas, complete with your own robe and spa sandals. From there, guests relax in their retreat areas—one for men, one for women—where you can enjoy a warm lavender neck pillow with your choice of herbal teas and inspirational reading material. It is here that your specialist will greet you and escort you into your private treatment area.

“In a traditional massage experience you’ll walk into the lobby, enter your room, disrobe and receive your treatment all in one room. After the massage, you dress quickly, leave the room and you’re done,” says Danielle. “We didn’t want our guests to feel rushed so we embraced the Spavia experience to be one that is more relaxing, unhurried and a truly indulgent getaway.”

All work is done by licensed aestheticians and massage therapists. “Our aestheticians provide several types of facials customized to your skin care needs. Additionally, we offer corrective skin care such as restorative peels as well as hydroderms, which is microdermabrasion with serum infusion,” says Aaron. “And new to our spa, we’ll be featuring eyelash extensions; a growing trend that we have found is in high demand.”

Spavia is changing the perception of spas. The spa experience is no longer a costly luxury—Spavia is for anyone who wants to frequently relax, escape and thrive.

Spavia also features three wellness membership program tiers which include special offers available only to members. “We find people return again and again and eventually realize that a membership just makes sense to them,” says Aaron. “But a priority for us is to never pressure anyone into a membership. We are here to make the health benefits of massage and spa treatments part of your everyday life.”

Spavia is the perfect destination for “Spalebrations," its trademarked signature for private spa parties. Upon request, the Katzoffs will close Spavia for bridal parties, birthday celebrations or other special occasions where you will enjoy the most luxurious pampering for your whole group.

“This is truly a getaway in your town,” Aaron says. “Our rooms and retreats are top of the line and the special touches that come with it are as well. Spavia makes relaxation affordable.”
