Mary Farren, DMD

by Glori Gayster
Something to smile about: Mary Farren, DMD, provides dentistry with a modern touch.

A native South Jersey resident, Mary Farren, DMD, felt there was no better place to open her own family and cosmetic dentistry practice than Cherry Hill. “This is my home,” says the sole practitioner and general dentist. “After seven years at a large practice, I wanted to create an environment where patients are not shuffled to whichever dentist might be in the office. Our patients know me and the entire staff. In turn, we know all our clients by name.”

Home-style comfort meets high-tech skill
Dr. Farren’s personal touch is evident the moment patients enter the office. The reception area is filled with Victorian furniture, and sunlight beams from an oversized bay window. It feels more like home than a waiting room. But, patients need not worry about the old-fashioned style when it comes to the dental expertise. Each patient suite combines this same level of comfort with state-of-the-art technology and quality skill.

The practice specializes in all aspects of general dentistry, including cleaning and comprehensive hygiene care, fillings, root canal procedures and extractions. “We also provide restorative treatment with dental implants, veneers and other techniques based upon the patient’s needs and history–both dental and medical,” says Dr. Farren. “Our patients smile with greater pride and ease no matter if they require a crown, bridge or full dentures.”

Unique to her practice is a high-tech piece of fabrication machinery that most dental offices do not have, allowing for faster service.

“We have a Cerec machine which allows us to fabricate all porcelain crowns in our office, same day,” says Dr. Farren. The machine uses computer technology to create an esthetic restoration specifically for each patient, based on pictures of their teeth taken in-office.

“Patients really love this technology and the fact that they do not have to endure yucky impressions, a second office visit to get their crown put in, and temporaries that tend to fall out. It is one more thing that sets our office apart from most general dentistry offices,” Dr. Farren concludes.

For those who suffer pain and soreness from grinding their teeth at night, the office is also able to make custom nightguards during one visit to the office, using the new InTerra system. “I am always looking for ways to provide better services in a shorter amount of time as I realize that everyone’s time is valuable, not just mine,” Dr. Farren says.

When dental health impacts overall health
Diagnosis and treatment of periodontal disease is another area of focus for Dr. Farren. Patients are often unaware of these symptomless infections, which can destroy the gums and bones supporting natural teeth. Whether patients do experience symptoms, including bleeding, red or swollen gums, or have no apparent signs, Dr. Farren explains that proactive evaluation is important to avoid bone and tooth loss along with other medical conditions.

Successfully creating great smiles is a joy
Dr. Farren shares with patients both young and old, using some of the latest cosmetic dentistry techniques available. With the growing popularity of teeth whitening and any number of in-office or over-the-counter products, it can be hard to know which treatment is best. Dr. Farren uses an approach that combines an in-office procedure and a take-home kit to achieve the most optimal results for patients.

The Sapphire bleaching system is one of the latest innovations in chairside teeth whitening in which natural teeth can become six to 10 shades lighter within 30 minutes. To further reinforce the outcome, patients are provided with, and instructed on how to use, a take-home bleaching kit after the procedure.

“I believe so strongly that making someone comfortable is one of the most important parts of my job,” Farren says. “It helps patients want to maintain their dental care and ultimately their overall health. What could be more rewarding than that?”

Conveniently located at 1908 Springdale Road in Cherry Hill, Mary Farren, DMD, LLC Family & Cosmetic Dentistry schedules appointments Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday with office hours in the early morning and evenings to accommodate patients’ busy lives.
