Advocare Township Pediatrics

by Glori Gayster

Advocare Township Pediatrics caring for children; partnering with parents.

Advocare Township Pediatrics opened in 2004 and has since built a large and devoted following of families by putting children’s health care first. Caring for children from birth through the college years, the practice is built on a prevention-focused philosophy of partnering with parents to promote children’s well-being. “Our goal is to guide families to good health,” says Dr. Christina Lampone.

Dr. Lampone has fond memories of growing up in Washington Township. Born and raised here, she now enjoys caring for area families at Advocare Township Pediatrics. “I am honored to bring high quality pediatric care to families in Sewell and the nearby communities,” she says.

Lampone is one of 13 board certified pediatricians at the popular South Jersey practice founded by renowned pediatrician John M. Tedeschi, MD. Six nurses and administrative staff support the physicians, who are regularly named among the regions “Top Docs” by many area publications.

A Philosophy of Prevention
Prevention strategies include regular well exams and immunizations in accordance with American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines; consulting for medical, emotional, and behavioral concerns; education on topics such as nutrition and child development; and simple tips for staying healthy—from frequent hand washing and hydration to getting enough rest. Lampone says, “These may seem like old-fashioned remedies, but they really work!”

To help protect families during influenza season, Advocare Township Pediatrics offers flu shot clinics, by appointment only, through February on Tuesdays from 4:00 to 6:00 pm and on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

For sick children, the practice offers unparalleled medical expertise, affiliations with leading hospitals, and collaboration with specialists to ensure the highest level of quality care. Charlotte Osso found Advocare Township Pediatrics when she moved to Washington Township from Pittsburgh five years ago. With three young children, all with chronic conditions, finding an experienced and compassionate medical “home” for her family was Osso’s highest priority. “I moved here knowing no one,” Osso says. “This group has been our ‘rock’ from the very start and has made us feel right at home. My youngest child has had two open heart surgeries and a brain hemorrhage. The on-going care that we received from Advocare Township Pediatrics got us through it.”

Compassion and Convenience
Creating a sense of family is important to Advocare Township Pediatrics. With staff like lead nurse Janet Dawson, who brings more than 30 years of experience to the practice, children and their parents feel welcome at every visit. “Nurse Janet is amazing. She has a wealth of information and her comforting approach is unmatched. My kids love her,” says Osso.

Families also enjoy the home-like feeling in the newly renovated waiting rooms for sick and well children, which include colorful wall murals in an amusement-park theme, as well as an intake area and a hearing and vision examination room. The renovations also include a new, private feeding room for parents of newborns, which offers a comfortable glider chair and changing station.

Office manager Lisa Cesare says, “We listened to the feedback we’ve received over the years so our goals for our recent renovations were to reduce waiting time, which we did by expanding to nine treatment rooms, improve our patient flow, and increase office hours. We also wanted to create a more comfortable environment for our families in our waiting areas, and based on the feedback we’ve received, we achieved this and more.”

Along with expanding its office space, the practice also added office hours to better serve its families. Advocare Township Pediatrics now offers appointments on Monday through Friday and Saturday mornings, plus two evenings each week. Doctors are also available by phone 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Lampone adds that renovating and expanding the practice’s office is in keeping with its commitment to best practices that further wellness and patient care. “We really care about our families,” says Lampone. “We want our office to be comfortable and convenient, and we are constantly working to deliver the finest pediatric care in the region for infants, children, and adolescents.”

“I have complete trust in the care that Advocare Township Pediatrics provides for my children,” Osso says. “They would move heaven and earth for their patients. We are so grateful to have this group right in our backyard.”
