More than 50 Washington Township third-grade students joined New Jersey Secretary of Agriculture Douglas H. Fisher to harvest squash at Duffield’s Farm Market in Sewell. Since 1999, Tracy Duffield has been working with local elementary school students as they plant, harvest and donate fruits and vegetables to the hungry through Farmers Against Hunger.
Giving Back
Breast Friends Forever, an organization dedicated to assisting families affected by breast cancer, held a night of beauty at True Salon Spa & Boutique in West Berlin to raise money for Kennedy Health System breast cancer patients. Guests were able to choose from an array of luxurious spa services and enjoy live music, food, cocktails and a Chinese auction.
Summer Fun
The campers at Liberty Lake Day Camp (pictured) had a refreshing, fun-filled day when the Mansfield Township and Bordentown fire departments stopped by to spray them with their high-pressure hoses.
Warm Welcome
At the Washington Township Board of Education’s July meeting, Joseph Vanderberg was formally introduced as Washington Township’s interim superintendent of schools. Vanderburg has been leading the district since July 1 and also works as the superintendent for curriculum and instruction for Washington Township.
Bookworms Return
Haddon Township residents were anxiously waiting for the reopening of the Haddon Township Branch of the Camden County Library on July 25. Volunteers worked tirelessly to prepare for the reopening after the library closed in May due to damage from a broken waterline. Their hard work was celebrated with cake, flowers and balloons as the library opened its doors to the public.
