South Jersey Black Storm, Medford
The 4th grade team of the South Jersey Black Storm boys lacrosse organization (pictured) won the annual Lax’n by the River tournament hosted by West Deptford Lacrosse last month. They went 4-0 to win the U11 bracket, beating teams from Marlton, Clearview, Washington Township and West Deptford in the final. The Black Storm also won the Lightning Thunderbolt Tournament a day earlier in West Windsor, going 4-0 against teams from Bridgewater, Moorestown, Rumson Fair Haven and Mavericks Lacrosse Club.

New Jersey Gators 12U softball team, Cherry Hill
The Gators turned in a dominant performance as they were crowned champions at the USSSA Queen of Diamonds Tournament in East Hartford, Conn. The girls recorded a perfect 6-0 record in the tournament, including a 6-0 win in the final over another South Jersey squad, Millville’s Tidal Wave 2001. For the tournament, the Gators outscored their opponents by a staggering 62-2.

Voorhees Xtreme 10U girls soccer team, Voorhees
The Xtreme were crowned champions of their bracket at the prestigious Jefferson Cup, considered one of the top youth soccer tournaments in the country. The girls posted a 2-1 record in preliminary play at the tourney, held in Richmond, Va. They moved on to beat Braddock Road Elite in the final, 5-0, to claim the title.

Washington Township golf team, Washington Township
Washington Township High School’s golf team celebrated its first state championship in 16 years when it beat Cherokee 329-330, led by Joe Russo’s 79, at the Tournament of Champions last month at Hopewell Valley Golf Club. It was a successful year for the team, which came in fourth last year. Earlier in the season, they took home first at the Carl Arena/Al Rifkin Memorial tournament as well.

Cherry Hill High School East Ethics Bowl Team, Cherry Hill
The Cherry Hill High School East Ethics Bowl Team placed fourth out of 18 high school teams that competed nationally at the Second Annual National High School Ethics Bowl in April at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. The students earned the right to compete in the nationals by placing first in the 2013 Philadelphia Area Regional Qualifier at Villanova University in December.

Tri-State Arsenal 14U baseball team, Voorhees
The Arsenal won their bracket at the Hamilton Hitfest III Tournament, claiming a thrilling 7-6 victory over Pro Source Elite in the championship game. That win capped a perfect 5-0 record for the Arsenal in the tournament. They outscored their opponents by a combined score of 38-11.

Cherokee Girls Lacrosse, Marlton
The girls lacrosse team played for more than just wins this spring. The Chiefs, along with the rest of their spring sports teams, dedicated the season to senior lacrosse player Katie Bednarek, who was diagnosed with brain cancer. The lacrosse team took part in a walk for the Brain Cancer Society in October with Katie’s friends and family. They also played their season opener in Katie’s honor, and Cherokee students and staff wore purple T-shirts to school to show support.

Lenape girls track team, Mount Laurel
The Indians had three teams win titles at the Rowland Relays and captured second place in the team standings for Division 3. In the 4x100 relay, the team of Marissa Topolski, Sam Maynes, Sabrina LaRosa and Ciaron Williams took first in 51.95 seconds. Haley Spellman, Lauren Benson, Shannon Lambert and Cian Williams teamed up to win the 4x400 in 4:15.97, while the distance medley relay of Megan Quimby, Spellman, Lizzy Restivo and Annie Londregan prevailed in 13:23.27.

Haddonfield crew team, Haddonfield
The Bulldawgs took home three first-place finishes at the Garden State Scholastic Rowing Championship Regatta on Cooper River. In the men’s freshman 4+ race, the team captained by Jack Richards won with a time of 5:32.15. The team captained by Lydia Mackey posted a time of 5:19.91 to place first in the women’s freshman 8+ race. The third victory came from the team captained by Owen Hart, which finished the men’s junior 8+ in 4:35.48.

Maverick Select u13 lacrosse, Haddonfield
The Maverick Select U13 lacrosse team, coached by Pat McDonough and Damon Legato, played in the U.S. Lacrosse Southeast Regional Championships earlier this month in Raleigh, N.C. The team placed third with an impressive 5-1 record. Their only loss was a tight 8-7 game against the third-seeded Virginia Dominions.

Moorestown Lacrosse Club, Moorestown
The Moorestown Lacrosse Club saw two teams bring home championships at the Irish Skirmish Youth Lacrosse Tournament in Pipersville, Pa. The boys U13 gold team and girls U13 yellow team both claimed titles in their division. The tournament featured more than 100 teams from the Northeast.

Cherokee baseball team, Marlton
The Chiefs clinched a share of the Olympic Conference American Division title with an 8-3 win over Shawnee. Three seniors played a big role in the victory, as Brendan Gumm hit a two-run homer and drove in four runs, Jake Powell went 2-for-3 with an RBI double and Frank Rosetti earned the win on the mound.
