The massive Dinosaurium exhibit, a year in the making, makes its grand debut at the Garden State Discovery Museum this month. The 2,000-square-foot exhibit teaches kids all about the prehistoric world, with interactive exhibits like a three-story climbing area built around the skeleton of an adolescent tyrannosaurus or the digging area featuring dino bones and fossils, like those of the Hadrosaurus (whose fossils were famously discovered right in Haddonfield). A members-only preview included a behind-the-scenes look at the groundbreaking display.

Campers at Haddonfield Friends School summer camp spent some time discovering nature in the campus’s butterfly peace garden, after an afternoon of water play outside. The garden is a central part of the school’s environmental lessons, with milkweed and flowers to attract Monarchs and diverse butterfly varieties.

Hurffville Elementary School fourth- and fifth-grade chorus students enjoyed a personal meet-and-greet with musician Josh Groban and gratis seats to his show. The musician was in town for a performance at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia and invited the students after learning that their rendition of his song “Believe” had earned the chorus recognition in a B101 radio Christmas Choir competition in December.

Nearly 300 Burlington County students are well prepared for the new school year, thanks to volunteer efforts by The Drenk Center. Drenk’s Family Success Center of Burlington County, along with Radwell International, collected kids’ backpacks and stuffed them with essential school supplies, providing the goods free to needy kids as part of its Back-to-School Supplies Drive. A memorial garden was unveiled at Kellman Brown Academy in Voorhees this month, dedicated to the memory of Taylor Lynn Cohen. The garden will teach students about vegetables, while providing fresh produce for the cafeteria. Pride Paws of Medford welcomed families to pick out a “forever friend” during its second animal adoption day of the summer. Pets came from Joe Joe’s Place Animal Sanctuary, a shelter established in memory of 18-year-old Joey Lloyd, a Medford animal lover who died suddenly of cardiac arrest in 2008. Pride Paws is a nonprofit pet boutique that trains and employs young adults with developmental disabilities.

Rastelli Direct hosted its annual Kids Café Day, doling out lunch for more than 100 children from needy homes. The Rastelli staff organized indoor and outdoor games and relays, plus arts and crafts, prizes and gifts to benefit the participants.
