Keeping Hope Alive

by Liz Hunter

Throughout the month of October we see the color pink almost everywhere, from clothing and nail polish to M&Ms and tic-tacs, meant to keep the fight against breast cancer front and center in our minds. Yet, we must remember that for those with the disease, as well as those treating it, this is a reality 365 days a year.

One in eight women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. My grandmother is one of them; a survivor. I’m sure it has touched someone close to you, too, which is why medical breakthroughs and new technology are more important than ever to getting women screened and diagnosed earlier. This month, we found out how South Jersey health care professionals are battling back and helping women through every stage of their battle and keeping hope for a cure alive.

To my fellow moms, daughters and sisters: Let’s not give up. We will win the war.
